Melvin Ephrain Forehand

   Melvin Ephrain Forehand, 86, of 407 Beech Springs Road, Hertford, NC, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mr. Forehand was born in Perquimans County on July 14, 1931, and was the son of the late Jarvis E. and Elie Rogerson Forehand.  A retired farmer, he was a member of Anderson United Methodist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Angela Robinson.

   Surviving are his step-daughter, Leondra Stallings of Norfolk, VA; the mother of his step-daughters, Eleanor Faye Forehand of Hertford; two sisters, Marjorie Rountree of Chesapeake, VA and Lucy Winslow of Edenton; three step-grandchildren, Chad, Brandon, and Dustin; two step-great-grandchildren, Cody and Riley; a niece, five nephews; and several close friends.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastors Bryant Perry and Gene Boyce.  Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Sunday.  A private burial will be held in Cedarwood Cemetery.
