Kate Perry Cartwright

   Kate Elizabeth Perry Cartwright, 95, of Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mrs. Cartwright was born in Chowan County on November 28, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Jesse and Millie Hogar Perry. A seamstress, she had taught sewing at College of The Albemarle, and earlier had worked at the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City. A faithful member of Edenton First Assembly of God, she was the church pianist for over 50 years, and had served as a Sunday School teacher.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Davis Warren Cartwright, III; by a son, Jesse Richard Cartwright; and by her sister, Vera Owens.

   Surviving are two daughters, Faye C. Boyce and husband, Jesse, of Edenton, and Judy C. Hoggard and husband, Raymond, of Greenville; a son, Davis W. Cartwright, IV and wife, Joy, of Yorktown, VA; a daughter-in-law, Octie Cartwright of Hampton, VA; 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton First Assembly of God, and will be conducted by her pastors, the Rev. Randy Pierce and the Rev. Bernie Hurdle. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the church the hour prior to services on Saturday, and all other times at the home of Faye and Jesse Boyce, 357 Mexico Road, Edenton.
