Alma Hardison Taylor, 80, of West Queen Street, Edenton, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Edenton on December 13, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Julius L. and Elizabeth Bass Hardison. A graduate of John A. Holmes High School and East Carolina University, she received her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1960. She taught school in Fairfax, Virginia and in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, and worked in Special Education in the Howard County, Maryland school system for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of Edenton Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. “Bob” Taylor.
Surviving are a son, Tedford Taylor and his husband, Kevin Hulbirt of Ewing, NJ; a daughter, Tamara Taylor Turner and her husband Jeffrey, and their children, Lauren and Luke Turner, all of Millersville, MD; and a brother, Ted Hardison and his wife, Deborah of Woodstock, GA.
Visitation will be held at her home, 1207 West Queen Street, on Saturday, February 17th, from 2 to 5 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24th, at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. David Brooks. A reception will follow at her home, 1207 West Queen Street, and inurnment will be next to her husband in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edenton Baptist Church, 200 S. Granville Street, Edenton, NC 27932, or to a charity of one’s choice.
