Benjamin Littleton "Ben" Gibbs, Jr., 76, of 115 Hillside Drive, Littleton, NC, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 in his home.
Mr. Gibbs was born in Pasquotank County on October 13, 1941, and was the son of the late Benjamin Littleton Gibbs, Sr. and Clara Brockett Gibbs. Retired as a Highway Equipment Engineer II from the NC Department of Transportation, he later worked as a District Representative with Fuel Master Systems of Tallahassee, FL. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish. He was an Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Gibbs.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 20 years, June Morgan Gibbs; two daughters, Cheryl Duke of Ohio and Amy Ahmadi of Raleigh; two brothers, Richard R. Gibbs and wife Catherine of Elizabeth City and Larry W. Gibbs and wife Gail of Belhaven; two grandchildren; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by The Rev. Delores Langley. A private burial will be held in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, 297 Southwest 41st Street, Renton, WA 98057 or online at www.castforkids.org. In honor and recognition of Ben's love of fishing, this organization was chosen because it provides fishing trips for special needs children.
