Eleanor Millard Christian

   Eleanor Jane Millard Christian, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018. Prior to moving to Parsons Residential Care Center in Chesapeake, VA, she was a resident of the Arrowhead Beach community of Chowan County, NC.

   Mrs. Christian was born in Williamson, Mingo County, WV, on January 4, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Elias H. Millard and Hester Sanders Millard Austin. A homemaker, while living near Edenton, she was a member of Bandon Chapel Church, its Women’s Guild, and the Chowan Ruritans.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Loy B. Christian; a son-in-law, Jerry Taylor; and two brothers, Joseph and Bob Austin.

   Surviving are three daughters, Toni Rutsch (Wayne), Patty Taylor, and Mona Evick (Bobby); five grandchildren, Jessica Kallio (Mike), Jerry Taylor, Bruce Engelhardt, Christian Evick, and Katelyn Evick; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Florence Anderson, Mary Richardson, and Julia Kuczynski; and brothers, John and Floyd Millard.

   In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Lorraine Bethea Hospice Foundation, 516 Independence Blvd., Suite 106, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
