Maxie Louise Lassiter Gurganus, 83, of 098 Catherine’s Creek Road, Hobbsville, NC, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Mrs. Gurganus was born in Gates County on November 24, 1934, and was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Maxie Louvenia Piland Lassiter. A retired supervisor from Seabrook Blanching Corp., she was a member of Warwick Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Mae Freeman; and by a brother, Frank Lassiter.
Surviving are three daughters, Catherine Taylor of Robersonville, Sarah Moore and husband, John of Washington, and Cindy Midgett of Edenton; a brother, Johnnie Lassiter and wife, Jo Ann of Hobbsville; a sister-in-law, Sarah Mae Lassiter, also of Hobbsville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Warwick Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Kip Vinson. The burial will be in Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
