Iris Harrell Doughtie

   Nell Iris Harrell Doughtie, 80, of 205 Brinkleyville Road, Ahoskie, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018, in Gates House Assisted Living, Gatesville.

   Mrs. Doughtie was born in the Eure community on July 13, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Jewell R., Sr. and Nellie Erma Harrell. A retired cosmetologist, she was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ray Doughtie, Sr.; and by her brothers, J. Randolph Harrell, Jr., Joe Duke Harrell, and Robert L. “Bobby” Harrell, Sr.

   Surviving are two sons, Earl Ray Doughtie, Jr. and Harold West Doughtie and wife, Tammy; two sisters-in-law, ONeill Harrell and Dorothy Jean Harrell; four grandchildren, Forest Ray Doughtie, Angela Nicole Barnes, Dustin Doughtie, and Ashley Doughtie; and three great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Joe McKnight. She will be inurned next to her husband on the family plot in the church cemetery.
