Addie Lois Bright Chalk, 85, of Morris Ford Road, Colerain, NC, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Accordius Health at Creekside, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Chalk was born in Prince George County, VA on May 10, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Gordon Sylvester and Thelma Balance Bright. Retired as a computer operator, she had been employed with Civil Service for 32 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wilton Chalk; a son-in-law, Walter McCabe; a sister, Iris Barkley; and by three brothers, Emerson, Jack, and Gordon Bright.
Surviving are her six children, Linda J. Webb of Floyd, VA, Howard C. Chalk of Norfolk, VA, Paula M. Tarter and husband Randy of Bloomington, IN, Teresa A. McCabe of Colerain, Janet L. Birsch and husband Landon, and Debbie Bouchard, all of Norfolk; a sister, Marlene Bennett of Washington; a brother, Melvin "Boogie" Bright of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Allen, Robbin, LeighAnn, Jennifer, Jason, Janet, Timothy, Nick, Erin, Ryan, Landon, Carl, and Jill; and 10 great-grandchildren, Christian, Ian, Caleb, Michaela, Justus, Kirsten, Addie Leigh, Lucas, Devin, and Noah.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Accordius Health at Creekside for the devoted and loving care provided for their loved one.
