Wayne Askew

   Elliott Wayne Askew, 71, of 150 Hill Lane Road, Eure, NC, passed away on April 13, 2018, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

 

   Mr. Askew was a lifelong resident of Gates County, born on March 28, 1947, and was the son of the late Thomas Elliott and Bertha Howell Askew. A farmer, in earlier years he worked with the former CF Industries in Winton. Raised in the fellowship of Eure Christian Church, he had enjoyed membership in the Sand Banks Hunting Club, and the Ray’s Beach Fishing Club.

 

   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Ann Askew, and by his brother, Kelly Ray Askew.

 

   Surviving are his daughters, Sherry Askew Grant and husband Johnnie of Gates, and Jesica Askew Johnson and husband John of Greenville; their mother, Thelma Francis Askew; three sisters, Esther Greene, Kay Greene, and Beth Perry; and four grandchildren, Will, Caroline, and Rebecca Johnson, and Lilly Grant.

 

   Friends are invited to join the family for a time to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 21st, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hall Ruritan Club in Eure.

 

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Roanoke-Chowan Wildlife Club, in care of Earl Bell, 445 Vinson Mill Road, Murfreesboro, NC 27855.
