Lewis Earl Copeland, 60, of 132 Evans-Bass Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mr. Copeland was born in Chowan County on May 4, 1957, and was the son of the late William Walter and Sally Marie Harrell Copeland. Retired from the Maintenance Department of Chowan Hospital, he was a member of Open Door Church and the Rocky Hock Ruritan Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Watson, and by a brother, Carroll Copeland.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Jo Ellen Hammond Copeland; his daughter, Misty C. Tatem, and his son, Aaron Earl Copeland and wife, Colbi, all of Edenton; his sisters and brothers, Margaret Moore and husband, Bill, of Indianapolis, IN, and Shirley Waff and husband, Johnny, Frances Nixon and husband, Tommy, William “Billy” Copeland and wife, Marjorie, and Wayne Copeland and wife, Regina, all of Edenton; and three granddaughters, Ella, Annabelle, and Kinley.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Open Door Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Steve Mizell, Ricky Bishop, and Gary Williams. The burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery in the Rocky Hock community. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
