Millard Roy Davis

   Millard Roy Davis, 79, of Deep Creek Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

   Mr. Davis was born in Westmoreland County, PA on September 22, 1938, and was the son of the late Roy and Sarah Gregg Davis. Retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy after 22 years of service, following his military career he was employed for many years as a plumber and pipefitter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Wanda and Martha Davis, and by a sister, Pat Wolfe.

   Surviving are his three daughters, Karen Ferdinande and husband Larry, and Marcy Hupp, all of Virginia Beach, and Rebecca Wooters of Charleston, SC; a son, Glen Davis of Hertford; two sisters, Donna Bracken of Lower Burrell, PA and Gretchen Snyder of Rockwood, PA; six grandchildren, Amanda Welch and husband Derek, and Katie and Ashley Hupp, and Clara, Lily, and Megan Wooters; and a great-granddaughter, Vivian.

   A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Friday.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507, or to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
