William Ray Casey

   William Ray Casey, 72, of US Highway 17 South, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 in his home.

   Mr. Casey was born in Craven County on November 9, 1945, and was the son of the late Elijah and Elizabeth Dixon Casey. An aircraft mechanic, he had retired from the US Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ronald.

   Surviving are his longtime companion, Wilma Harrell; three sons, Bill and Timmy Casey, both of New Bern, and Tony Casey of Bolivia, NC; two sisters, JoAnn of Raleigh, and Mary of New Bern; several grandchildren; a special nephew who was like a brother, Ronnie Casey, and his wife, Vickie, and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by Pastor Don Carter. A private burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
