Steven Ray Sharber

   Steven Ray Sharber, 62, of 202 East Camp Perry Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

Mr. Sharber was born in Pasquotank County on October 11, 1955. Employed for many years as a supervisor with Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Shop 64, he attended City Road United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Albemarle Houndsmen Association. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Jackson Sharber, and by his father-in-law, Julian "Little Man" Broughton.

   Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Betty Carol Broughton Sharber; his daughter, Katelyn Broughton Sharber of Hertford; two sisters, Cindy Harkins of Greenville, SC and Cathy Warren of Chesapeake, VA; his mother-in-law, Irene Broughton; and brother-in-law, Jeff Broughton and wife, Faith, all of Hertford.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Charles McKenzie. A private burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.
