Anna Williams Hare, 77, and her husband, Jimmy Martin Hare, 78, of 1007 Old Fishery Lane, Tyner, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, the day before celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Hare had been in declining health and was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, and Mr. Hare succumbed to a rapid battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Both were natives of Chowan County. Mrs. Hare, born on October 16, 1940, was the daughter of the late Percy Lee and Zannie Lucas Williams. Mr. Hare, born on December 11, 1939, was the son of the late Wilbert Martin and Mildred Nixon Hare. In addition to their parents, Mrs. Hare was preceded in death by her sisters, Esther Brabble and Alice Martin, and by her brothers, Guy, K.W., and Mike Williams.
Mrs. Hare was a Registered Nurse, having worked in area hospitals in earlier years, and lastly as a nurse in the Edenton-Chowan School System. Mr. Hare, was a Certified Public Accountant, and with his son owned and operated Wingfield Farms. Both were charter members of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, where Mr. Hare had served as a deacon, trustee, and as church treasurer. Other memberships for him included his service as treasurer of the Ryland Ruritan Club.
Surviving are their daughter, Krista Hare Perry; their son, David Martin Hare and his wife, Sheri, all of Tyner; and their grandchildren, Chelsea Perry and her fiancé, Michael Ray, Alex Perry, Megan Hare, and Cole Hare; a great-granddaughter, Emery Ray, and another great-granddaughter due to be born in October. Also surviving is Mrs. Hare’s sister, Edna Trapp of Edenton; and Mr. Hare’s sisters, Kay Givens and Joan James, both of Elizabeth City.
A joint funeral service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Burke Holland and the Rev. Ron Parr. The Rev. David Crumpler will assist with the private graveside service that will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
