David Rudolph Mizelle

   David Rudolph Mizelle, 93, of 316 Yakima Trail, Edenton, Arrowhead Beach community, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, in his home.

   Mr. Mizelle was born on October 18, 1924, in Chowan County, and was the son of the late David Preston and Mattie Baker Mizelle. A retired manager with both Colonial and Big Star grocery stores, he was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and was a founding member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Tyner.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Doris Wasko, Kathryn Umphlett, and Betty Smith; and by brothers, Arcie, Kermit, C.T., and Forest Mizelle.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 72 years, Dorothy Ramona Long Mizelle; three daughters, Linda C. Martin and husband, Whit, of Windsor, VA, Regina A. Wiborg and husband, Bob, of Orlando, FL, and Diane R. Coleman and husband, Chuck, of Portsmouth, VA; a son, David R. Mizelle, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Chris, Erica, Ryan, and Kelsey; and two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Landry.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Faith Fellowship Baptist Church and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. David Crumpler. A private burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
