James Kenneth Comer, Sr.

   James Kenneth “Jimmy” Comer, Sr., 86, of 203 Wake Avenue, Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mr. Comer was born in Washington County on September 15, 1931, and was the son of the late William Littleton and Vivian Davis Comer. A retired signal maintainer with Norfolk & Southern Railroad, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and was an Army veteran. A member of Countryside Church of Christ, recently he had been attending Open Door Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Oliver Comer, in 2012 after 59 years of marriage; by a sister, Jeanette Swain; and by a brother, William L. “Bill” Comer.

   Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Comer Bunch and husband, Durwood, and Donna Comer Wheeler and husband, Donald, all of Edenton; a son, Kenneth Comer and wife, Mary, of West Chester, OH; two sisters, Betty Lou Trueblood and Jean Comer-Ranga, and a brother, Jack D. Comer, all of Roper; nine grandchildren, Shana Fancher and husband, Clay, Jody and Brandon Bunch, Brittany Elliott and husband, Randy, Casey Williams and husband, William, Christopher Stallings and wife, Abigail, and Vivian, William, and David Comer; and five great-grandchildren, Kaleb Chester, Madison Williams, Charleston Stallings, and Brock and Owen Elliott.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial will follow in the Holly Neck Church of Christ Cemetery in Roper. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
