Joyce Mizelle Dickens

   Joyce Elaine Mizelle Dickens, 61, of 553 Happy Home Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, in her home, after a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease.

   Joyce was born in Bertie County on June 18, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Elsie Harmon Mizelle. With her husband, she had worked with Billy Joe’s Contracting Service and also with I-MAX Security.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Louis Mizelle.

   She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Billy Joe Dickens; two sisters, Judy Askew of Askewville and Betty Jean Warren of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Jim L. Mizelle of Askewville; and by her family who cared for her, and provided comfort to her, during this time of terrible illness, Chris, Shelley, Brooklyn, and Jordan Brabble.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. Speakers for the service will be Walter Byrum, David Crumpler, Derek Jones, and Michelle Lewis. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the Family Life Center of the church immediately following the service.
