Thomas Earl “Mickey” Perry, 86, of 79 Tinkham Road, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, where he was surrounded by his family.
Mr. Perry was born in Gates County on December 31, 1931, and was the son of the late James Bertell and Doris Catherine Tinkham Perry. A retired carpenter, he was raised in the fellowship of Cool Spring Baptist Church. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of Gates County Hunt Club, and a charter member of the Eure Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army veteran having served in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Perry; a sister, Dorothy Byrum; and by two brothers, Jimmy and Leslie “Runt” Perry.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 39 years, Beth Askew Perry; two sons, Mark Perry and fiancée, Angie Buchanan, of Gates, and Bracey Perry and wife, Crystal, of Eure; and two grandchildren, Gunner and Abbie.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Christian Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Wade Bennett. A private burial will be in Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of Eure Christian Church immediately following the church service on Friday, and all other times at Bracey and Crystal’s home, 240 Tinkham Road, Eure.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Eure Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 10, or to Cool Spring Baptist Church, in care of Merwin Bauerle, 460 US Hwy 13 South, both in Eure, NC 27935, or to a charity of one’s choice.
