Vera Johnson MacConnell

   Vera Johnson MacConnell, 77, of Ainsley Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mrs. MacConnell was born in Perquimans County on January 7, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Mary Lucille Broughton Johnson. A retired fifth grade teacher having taught in both public and private schools, she was a member of Hertford Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Johnson, II.

   Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Richard Charles MacConnell, Jr.; two daughters, Mary Heather Caggiano and husband, Alan, of Greenville, and Vera Lynn Vaughan of Washington; a son, Scott Allen MacConnell and wife, Tania Murdi, of Holly Springs; a sister, Gail Daneker of Hertford; and four grandchildren, Mackenzie Temple Caggiano, Gavin Charles Caggiano, and Madison Avery Caggiano, and Claire Iveye Vaughan.

   A private service will be held. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to any SPCA or to Disabled American Veterans.
