Luther Gray Chesson

   Luther Gray Chesson, 86, of 711 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hertford, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mr. Chesson was born in Perquimans County on November 9, 1931, and was the son of the late Jesse Pyron and Martha Parker Chesson. A retired supervisor with George C. Moore Company, he was a member of Hertford Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus, and had formerly been the Sunday School teacher for the Men’s Bible Class.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mamie Small and Marjorie Chappell; and by his brother, Jesse Parker “Jake” Chesson.

   Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Katherine Sawyer Chesson; his daughter, Karen Castelloe and husband, Scott, of Edenton; his son, Gray Chesson of Woodbridge, VA; and his grandson, Andrew White.

   In accordance with his wishes, there will be a private graveside service. Friends may call on the family at the residence.

   It is asked that flowers be omitted, and memorial contributions be made to Hertford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 34, Hertford, NC 27944.
