Elva Lane Wheeler

    Elva Lane Wheeler, 60, of 140 Lester Lane Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Wheeler was a life-long resident of Chowan County, born on May 6, 1958, the daughter of Faye Ward Lane of Tyner, and the late Lester Lane. Retired from George C. Moore Company, she later worked with both Winn Dixie and Food Lion grocery stores in Edenton, and lastly as a records clerk with the Albemarle District Jail in Elizabeth City. She was a member of Chappell Hill Baptist Church.

   In addition to her mother, survivors are her husband, Russell “Rusty” Wheeler, Jr.; her daughter, Jessica Wheeler Slade, husband Orry, and their daughters, Autumn and Kelsey; her sister, Rose L. Byrum of Tyner; and her brother, Phillip Ray Lane of Roper.

   A private graveside service is planned.

   Friends may join the family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at her mother’s home, 142 Lester Lane Road, Tyner.
